Chris Martinez is a Mexican-American filmmaker from Austin, Texas who is currently based in Brooklyn. He attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a B.F.A. in Undergraduate Film & TV. His work often focuses on stories surrounding fractured families, grief, and the process of self-acceptance.
He has worked on professional sets for projects affiliated with companies such as PBS, Hallmark, and ReelShort and has experience in producing, editing, and production assisting. He also served as a script development intern for Ryan Cunningham’s Running Man / Running Woman Productions.
He has directed short films both digitally and on celluloid, and collaborated with Alex Sulock on a microbudget road-trip dramedy, Aitana Needs a Gun, which is set to premiere on the streaming platform NoBudge this year. Additionally, he recently completed his final NYU thesis film, Canicas, which is now in its festival run.
His short screenplay, Hombre, placed as a Second-Rounder at the 2024 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition and as a Semi-Finalist at the 2024 Cinequest Screenwriting Competition. He is currently working on bringing it to the screen.
